He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

Self-assessment, allowable expense claims, lab fees and superannuation reconciliation for self-employed associates and private dentists.
Practice accounts, payroll for nurses and receptionists, UDA income monitoring, cash flow and profit extraction planning.
Accounting for referral-based and specialist practices, including capital allowances on equipment and VAT on cosmetic treatment.
Cash flow forecasts for lenders, company formation, cloud software set-up and registration for new and squat dental practices.
We reconcile NHS schedules, private takings, plan income such as Denplan and card receipts so you always know what the practice is really earning.
Most dental treatment is VAT exempt, but cosmetic work, teeth whitening and product sales are not. We handle partial exemption and get your returns right.
We prepare associate tax returns, claim every allowable expense from GDC fees and indemnity to CPD and lab costs, and reconcile superannuation deductions.
Payroll for nurses, hygienists and reception staff, plus auto-enrolment, statutory pay and NHS Pension submissions handled on time every month.
Management accounts that show profit per surgery, per associate and per income stream, so you can see exactly where the practice makes money.
Dental accounting is rarely just a matter of adding up fees. Income can arrive through several routes at once, expenses range from consumables to significant equipment purchases, and the tax rules that apply often depend on whether you are employed, self-employed, a partner or a company director. The points below are common considerations rather than universal ones — what applies to you will depend on your working arrangements and business structure.
We know UDAs, superannuation, associate agreements and GDC costs without being told.
Associates, principals and multi-site groups each get a different service, not a template.
One agreed monthly fee with no hourly billing and no surprises at year end.
Incorporation reviews, capital allowances on equipment and profit extraction planned in advance.
You deal with the same qualified person every time, by phone or email, not a call centre.

Take a back seat and let our London dental accountants handle everything. Switching mid-year is straightforward and you do not need to speak to your old accountant:
Reach out to us and we will discuss your practice, your contract and how we can help.
We’ll send over a simple letter to formalise our partnership and get everything in motion.
If you're switching, we’ll take care of contacting your previous accountants to make the transition smooth.
From there, sit back and relax. We’ll manage your accounts, taxes, and everything in between, keeping your practice running smoothly.
Not everyone does, but an associate's tax position is rarely as simple as a single employment. Many associates are self-employed and paid a percentage of fees by the practice, which means registering with HMRC, filing a Self Assessment tax return, recording fees earned and claiming allowable expenses correctly. Others are employed and taxed through PAYE, sometimes with locum or private work on the side. An accountant who understands associate arrangements can help you work out which rules apply to you and keep the reporting accurate.
Both generally form part of your taxable income, but the way they are recorded, invoiced and reported can differ, and the picture changes depending on whether you are a self-employed principal, an associate, a partner in a practice or a director of a limited company. NHS contract payments, private fees, laboratory charges passed on and associate splits all need to be captured accurately in your bookkeeping so your accounts and tax returns reflect what you actually earned.
Costs incurred wholly and exclusively for the purposes of your dental work may be allowable, and that can include professional registration, indemnity insurance, professional body subscriptions, specialist clothing and certain training costs. Whether a particular expense qualifies can depend on your employment status, your business structure and why the cost was incurred, so it is worth reviewing your outgoings with an accountant rather than assuming everything is claimable.
There is no single structure that suits every practice. Sole trader and partnership arrangements are common among principals, while a limited company can appeal to practice owners who want a formal separation between the business and their personal affairs. The right choice depends on profits, the number of owners involved, plans to expand or sell, and how you want to take money out of the business — so the aim is to explain the practical differences clearly before you decide.
VAT registration depends on your taxable turnover and the mix of services you provide, and some dental treatment may be exempt while other work is standard-rated. Because of that, two practices with similar income can end up with different VAT positions. We can review your fee structure and turnover, confirm whether registration is required or voluntary, and help with the record-keeping and returns where it applies.
As a starting point, records of all fees received — whether from an NHS contract, private treatment or associate percentages — along with invoices, bank statements, laboratory costs, materials, equipment purchases, indemnity and registration payments, and details of any staff costs. Good records make the year-end accounts and Self Assessment return far easier, support any expense claims, and help you spot changes in practice income early rather than at the last minute.
Yes. Changing accountant is usually straightforward. We would ask for your current arrangements, your latest accounts and tax returns, and your HMRC references, then contact your existing accountant for the professional clearance and records needed to take over. Once everything is in place, we can review your position, flag anything that needs attention, and handle the ongoing bookkeeping, accounts and tax work.
It helps to have a clear picture of how you work and what you earn. Useful starting points include your business structure, details of NHS and private income, any associate or partnership arrangements, recent accounts or tax returns, payroll information if you employ staff, and records of significant expenses or equipment purchases. If your records are incomplete, we can still begin by identifying what is missing and helping you put a practical system in place.
