I worked with Accotx on a HMRC reclaim and overall, they did ultimately deliver on their promise, which I appreciate. The process did take longer than any of us expected, partly due to external delays with the tax authorities, and partly because there were some hiccups in communication and follow-up. However, despite those challenges, they stayed professional and stuck to the original agreed terms. If you’re considering using them, be prepared to stay in regular contact to keep things moving along. They are absolutely capable, have the expertise and willing to work with you, and overall improving their services over time. I would certainly return for any future needs.Posted on Google![]()

FAQs About Accountants for Chiropractors
Accountants for Chiropractors handle the financial side of running a chiropractic practice, which typically includes bookkeeping, preparing annual accounts, completing Self Assessment returns, dealing with Corporation Tax for limited companies, running payroll, and advising on VAT where it applies. The work is the same in principle as any other accountancy support, but it is applied to the income and costs that chiropractic businesses actually have, such as treatment fees, block bookings, treatment room costs, equipment and professional subscriptions. Because the right approach depends on whether you are a sole trader, in a partnership or running a limited company, the specific work involved will vary from one practitioner to the next.
Yes. We support self-employed chiropractors, associates, private practitioners, clinic owners, partnerships and limited companies, as well as independent practices with several practitioners working under one roof. A sole practitioner working alone will usually have simpler needs centred on record keeping and Self Assessment, while a clinic with associates, reception staff and shared premises tends to need payroll, management accounts and more detailed reporting. We also help practitioners who are deciding whether to stay self-employed or move into a limited company structure.
It depends on how the clinic is set up and how it earns income. A small practice may only need bookkeeping, annual accounts and Self Assessment, while a larger clinic with employees, associates or multiple treatment rooms may need payroll, management accounts, VAT support and help monitoring cash flow. Clinics that hold stock, take card and online payments, or receive income from third parties often benefit from more frequent bookkeeping so the figures stay reliable throughout the year. We recommend services based on your actual circumstances rather than a fixed package.
Yes. We can keep your records up to date, reconcile patient payments and clinic expenses, and prepare and file your Self Assessment return ahead of the HMRC deadline. Good bookkeeping throughout the year makes the return far quicker to complete and reduces the risk of missed expenses, and it also helps you plan for any payments on account that follow. If you currently hand over a shoebox of receipts at the last minute, moving to a more regular routine usually makes the whole process calmer.
Common examples include chiropractic equipment and its maintenance, treatment room rent or premises costs, professional subscriptions and insurance, training and continuing professional development, staff and associate payments, marketing, and travel between sites where relevant. For costs used partly for private purposes, such as a room in your home or a phone used for both work and personal calls, only the business proportion is normally claimable. The key test is whether an expense is wholly and exclusively for the business, and if you are unsure about a particular cost it is worth asking before you claim it.
Yes. If you run your practice through a limited company, we can prepare your statutory annual accounts and deal with the Corporation Tax return, and we can talk through how salary, dividends and pension contributions interact so you are not caught out by an unexpected bill. We also help directors understand the filing deadlines that apply to them, since accounts, confirmation statements and Corporation Tax returns fall due at different points. For sole traders and partnerships the equivalent work centres on unincorporated accounts and Self Assessment instead.
VAT depends on your turnover and on the nature of the services you provide, so there is no single answer that applies to every chiropractor. Some healthcare services may be exempt where the relevant conditions are met, but that is not automatic and the position can change if you offer other services, sell products, or work with third parties. Once your taxable turnover approaches the registration threshold, it is worth reviewing your position in advance, as registering late or assuming an exemption you do not qualify for can create avoidable cost.
Yes, switching is usually straightforward, and we can contact your existing accountant to request the records and information we need so you do not have to manage the handover yourself. The first step is a conversation about how your practice is structured, how income arrives, what you currently have in place and what you would like to improve, whether that is tidier bookkeeping, clearer management information or help with a specific tax question. From there we can confirm the support that fits your circumstances and agree how the ongoing work will run.
