He helped me sort out a very complicated backlog of accounts and prepared my overdue tax returns with professionalism and attention to detail. Throughout the process, he was incredibly patient, took the time to answer all of my questions, and explained everything clearly. We worked with a few different accountants before finally settling with Accotax, and we’re really glad we did. Their team is great. Abdul is responsive and easy to reach whenever I have a question, which makes a big difference. They take the time to understand how our business works and what our needs are. They are very knowledgeable, and when they don’t have the answer straight away, they take the time to look into it and get back to us quickly. Anum, who looks after our account on a day-to-day basis, including reconciling invoices and preparing the annual accounts, is amazing. She is professional, efficient, and follows the processes we have put in place together. She's also very quickin getting back to us whenever needed. We’re very happy to work with her and hope to continue doing so for as long as possible. Overall, Accotax has made our accounting experience much smoother and easier. We see them as a long-term partner as our business continues to grow. I would 100% recommend them.Posted on Google![]()

I have really impressed to date with all dealings with Accotax highly enough. From day one, they've made what can often be a complicated and stressful part of running a business feel straightforward and hassle-free. A special mention has to go to Anum, who has been friendly, incredibly responsive, and genuinely cares about providing the best possible service. No question is ever too much trouble, and she consistently goes above and beyond to make sure everything is dealt with efficiently. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend you to anyone looking for an accountant they can genuinely trust.Posted on Google![]()

Self-assessment, allowable expense claims, lab fees and superannuation reconciliation for self-employed associates and private dentists.
Practice accounts, payroll for nurses and receptionists, UDA income monitoring, cash flow and profit extraction planning.
Accounting for referral-based and specialist practices, including capital allowances on equipment and VAT on cosmetic treatment.
Cash flow forecasts for lenders, company formation, cloud software set-up and registration for new and squat dental practices.
We reconcile NHS schedules, private takings, plan income such as Denplan and card receipts so you always know what the practice is really earning.
Most dental treatment is VAT exempt, but cosmetic work, teeth whitening and product sales are not. We handle partial exemption and get your returns right.
We prepare associate tax returns, claim every allowable expense from GDC fees and indemnity to CPD and lab costs, and reconcile superannuation deductions.
Payroll for nurses, hygienists and reception staff, plus auto-enrolment, statutory pay and NHS Pension submissions handled on time every month.
Management accounts that show profit per surgery, per associate and per income stream, so you can see exactly where the practice makes money.
Dental accounting combines clinical income with business administration, and the issues that matter most differ depending on whether you are an associate, a principal, a partner or a company director. The areas below are common points where dentists and practice owners tend to benefit from specialist accounting input rather than a generalist approach.
We know UDAs, superannuation, associate agreements and GDC costs without being told.
Associates, principals and multi-site groups each get a different service, not a template.
One agreed monthly fee with no hourly billing and no surprises at year end.
Incorporation reviews, capital allowances on equipment and profit extraction planned in advance.
You deal with the same qualified person every time, by phone or email, not a call centre.

Take a back seat and let our London dental accountants handle everything. Switching mid-year is straightforward and you do not need to speak to your old accountant:
Reach out to us and we will discuss your practice, your contract and how we can help.
We’ll send over a simple letter to formalise our partnership and get everything in motion.
If you're switching, we’ll take care of contacting your previous accountants to make the transition smooth.
From there, sit back and relax. We’ll manage your accounts, taxes, and everything in between, keeping your practice running smoothly.
It is not a legal requirement, but many self-employed dentists and associates use an accountant because their tax affairs involve more than a single salary. Self Assessment returns need to account for income from one or more practices, expenses incurred personally rather than reimbursed, and any additional income such as locum work or teaching. An accountant can prepare and file the return, check that the right expenses are being claimed where they qualify, and keep a record of the figures so that future returns and any HMRC enquiries are easier to handle.
NHS contract income and private treatment fees are generally both taxable, but they can be recorded and reported in different ways depending on whether you receive them personally, through a partnership or through a limited company. The way payments arrive, the deductions made by a practice, and the timing of contract settlements can all affect the figures in your accounts. Because the treatment depends on your specific arrangement, it is worth reviewing how your income is structured rather than assuming one method fits every dentist.
Depending on your working arrangement and whether costs are met personally or reimbursed by a practice, allowable expenses may include indemnity insurance, professional body subscriptions, registration fees, continuing professional development, clinical equipment, protective clothing and mileage for practice travel. Whether a cost can be claimed, and how much of it, depends on the circumstances and on the wholly and exclusively rule that applies to business expenses. We can review what you spend and identify which items are likely to be allowable in your case.
There is no single structure that suits every dentist. Sole trader status is common for associates and locums, partnerships are often used where several principals share a practice, and a limited company may appeal to some practice owners for reasons that can include profit extraction and long-term planning. Each option brings different reporting requirements, including Corporation Tax, company accounts, payroll or partnership returns. We can talk through how each structure may affect your position so you can make an informed decision.
Practice accounting usually covers annual accounts, bookkeeping, payroll for clinical and administrative staff, VAT registration and returns where applicable, and Corporation Tax or partnership tax returns depending on how the practice is structured. It can also include management information that helps you understand profitability per surgery or per clinician, monitor costs such as laboratory fees and materials, and plan for equipment replacement or practice investment. For practice owners, this complements the personal Self Assessment position of each principal or associate.
Yes. We can run payroll for practice employees, handle the associated pension duties and reporting, and manage VAT registration and returns where a practice is registered or approaching the threshold. VAT treatment can vary between NHS and private income and between different types of supply, so it is important to look at how your practice is actually operating rather than applying a blanket approach. We can review your position and explain what applies to you.
It is helpful to have your Unique Taxpayer Reference, National Insurance number, details of your working arrangements and income sources, and copies of previous tax returns or accounts if available. For practice owners and partners, information on staff payroll, VAT records, equipment finance, practice loans and recent management figures is also useful. If you are switching accountants, we can discuss how to obtain your records and confirm the position on any outstanding filings before we take things forward.
In most cases, yes. A change of accountant can usually be arranged at any point, although care is needed if deadlines are approaching or if there are outstanding returns to submit. We can contact your existing accountant to request the relevant records and professional clearance, then confirm what has already been filed and what still needs to be done. Once that is clear, we can pick up your bookkeeping, returns and any ongoing compliance work from an agreed point.
